Basementgrid's Comments and Updates feature within each work order provides a dynamic space for your team to communicate, share progress, and collaborate seamlessly, keeping everyone informed every step of the way.

Why Use Comments & Updates?

The comment section in a Basementgrid work order is more than just a chatbox; it's an integrated communication log that offers:

  • Real-time Progress Tracking: Get instant updates from the field as tasks evolve.

  • Contextual Communication: All discussions are tied directly to the relevant work order, eliminating confusion.

  • Problem Solving: Team members can quickly ask questions, report issues, and brainstorm solutions together.

  • Accountability: A clear, timestamped record of all communications and actions taken.

  • Reduced Email/Text Clutter: Keep all work order-related discussions in one centralized location.

What You Can Post:

Within the comments section of a work order, you can:

  1. Post Text Messages:

    • Share observations, ask questions, provide instructions, or give general updates on the task's status.

    • Examples: "Just arrived on site, assessing the leak." or "Need an extra long ladder for this job."

  2. Add Attachments (Photos, Videos, Documents):

    • Enhance your updates with visual evidence or supporting documents.

    • Photos: Crucial for showing before-and-after conditions, identifying specific parts, or documenting damage.

    • Videos: Ideal for demonstrating moving parts, strange noises, or complex issues that photos can't capture.

    • Documents: Attach manuals, schematics, safety protocols, or invoices directly to the conversation.

  3. Mention Team Members:

    • Use the "@" symbol followed by a team member's name to specifically notify them about a comment. This ensures they see crucial messages directed at them.

How to Post an Update:

  1. Open the Work Order: Navigate to the specific work order you wish to update.

  2. Locate the Activity Section: Scroll down "Activity"

  3. Type Your Message: Tap into the text box and type your message.

  4. Add Attachments (Optional): Look for icons (e.g., paperclip, camera, photo gallery) to add photos, videos, or documents from your device.

  5. Mention users: Mention someone in a message by typing @ followed by their name. They will then receive a notification.
  6. Post: Tap the "Paper airplane" icon to add your comment to the work order's history.

Every comment and attachment becomes a part of the work order's permanent record, providing a complete audit trail of the task's lifecycle. By actively using this feature, your team can achieve unparalleled transparency and collaboration in every maintenance operation.
