We're thrilled you're interested in using Basementgrid, the ultimate platform for property managers and teams to bring transparency, collaboration, and structured management to every repair and upkeep task! Currently, Basementgrid is designed as a mobile-first experience, exclusively available on Android and iOS devices.

We understand that many of our users also work from their PCs and would love to access Basementgrid on a larger screen. While native PC applications are not yet supported, there are effective workarounds that allow you to use your favorite mobile apps on your desktop or laptop.

Here's how you can access Basementgrid on your Windows or Mac computer:

For Windows Users:

You can emulate an Android environment on your Windows PC to run Basementgrid. Several tools can help you achieve this:

  • Android Emulators: These programs create a virtual Android device on your PC, allowing you to install and run Android apps, including Basementgrid, just as you would on a phone or tablet. Popular and reliable options include:

    • BlueStacks: A widely used and feature-rich emulator that's great for both apps and games.

    • NoxPlayer: Another strong contender, offering a smooth Android experience on PC.

    • MEmu Play: Known for its performance and customization options.

You can find a comprehensive guide on how to use these and other methods here:

  • Microsoft Phone Link (for mirroring): If you have a compatible Android device, Windows' built-in Phone Link feature allows you to mirror your phone's screen and interact with apps directly on your PC. While not a true emulation, it provides a convenient way to access your phone's apps from your computer.

For Mac Users:

If you have a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3 chip, etc.), you have a fantastic built-in capability to run many iOS and iPadOS apps directly on your Mac.

  • Direct Installation from Mac App Store: Many iOS apps that are compatible with Apple Silicon Macs will appear in the Mac App Store under the "iPhone & iPad Apps" tab when you search for them. If Basementgrid becomes available this way in the future, you'll see a "Designed for iPhone" or "Designed for iPad" label.

  • Third-Party Tools (for non-App Store apps): For apps not directly available on the Mac App Store, there are tools like PlayCover that allow you to run iOS apps by "wrapping" them to imitate an iPad on your Mac.

  • iPhone Mirroring (macOS Sequoia and later): With macOS Sequoia and newer, you can mirror your iPhone's screen directly onto your Mac, letting you use any iOS app without needing to install it natively on your Mac.

You can learn more about these methods for running iOS apps on your Mac here:

We understand that these are workarounds, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to develop and enhance Basementgrid. We are constantly evaluating how to best serve our users across all platforms and will keep you updated on any future developments regarding native PC support.

In the meantime, we hope these solutions help you streamline your property maintenance tasks with Basementgrid!
